Crop Production Coordinator

The Crop Production Coordinator at The Farm Collaborative is primarily responsible for the coordination and implementation of row crop production at our Cozy Point farm. Working in collaboration with our Site Manager and Agricultural Program Specialist, the Coordinator will develop and implement a robust vegetable and fruit crop plan that incorporates regenerative and sustainable practices in all areas of growing. In addition, The Coordinator will have the assistance with production tasks from 4-6 apprentices for the season and will be expected to provide training to apprentices.
The Coordinator will be responsible for all stages of plant growth, including nursery production, transplanting, seeding, weed and pest management, soil fertility, harvest and post harvest, and weekly sales of product at the Aspen Saturday Market, to Lift-Up (food assistance services), and for a small CSA serving staff and other Farm Collaborative community members. The Coordinator will have access to both our current greenhouse facilities, ~ one acre row crop field, and our FarmPark spaces, as well as our brand new Farm Learning Center with 4-season wash/pack and cold storage for year-round crop planning and production.
The applicant will focus on the following:
1) lead crop planning for upcoming year
2) growing nursery starts for transplanting into production beds,
3) building/maintaining soil fertility for optimal growth of production crops,
4) propagating/transplanting/seeding annual row crops for market sale,
5) harvesting and packing annual row crops for market sale
6) train and utilize team of 4-6 apprentices for variety of production tasks
Other activities may include helping farm team with daily chores (including care of livestock), supporting education programming, and helping complete site wide projects. We sell our produce, protein and eggs at the Aspen Saturday Market, and also through Lift-Up and Seniors Matters (food assistance programs).
Job Requirements:
Farm management experience, small-scale, regenerative/sustainable/organic agriculture production desired
Knowledge of seeding, transplanting, weed control, irrigating, harvesting, post-harvest packing and direct sales of a broad range of local/seasonal crops
Mechanical knowledge and care of small engine agricultural equipment and tools desired
Ability to prepare periodic written reports and plans
Ability to bend, kneel, and life up to 50lbs repetitively
Ability to budget, program, manage and schedule resources
Ability to interact successfully and effectively with employees, donors, education program participants, and community members
Ability to plan ahead and look at the bigger picture
Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications (paid by TFC)
